British Council Literature Department (events, news, links and ‘Literature Matters’ in electronic form)

Contemporary Writers in the UK ("this unique, searchable database contains up-to-date profiles of some of the UK and Commonwealth's most important living writers - biographies, bibliographies, critical reviews, prizes and photographs")

Counterpoint ("The cultural relations think-tank of the British Council")

The ELTECS Archive (the fruits of the British Council's English Language Teaching Exchanges and Contacts Scheme, an important feature of Central and Eastern European ELT and now increasingly global)

Football Culture (interesting angles and information on the world’s favourite sport)

The German Web Portal for British Studies (a very rich resource - excellent bibliography, good and well-organised links, lists of publishers, descriptions of ongoing research projects, and more)

Language Assistant (site designed for language assistants, with tips, materials, a discussion group and links, but useful resources for all teachers)
